A training orchestra promoting intercultural dialogue in the Mediterranean
The Mediterranean Youth Orchestra
well known as OJM, was founded in 1984 by the Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) and the French Ministère de la Culture. It organises several training sessions throughout the year in order to offer young future professional musicians from the PACA area and the Mediterranean some «professional» experience of orchestral life, both in rehearsals and concert.
Orchestral training session
The OJM summer training session is part of the Aix Festival’s Orchestral Academy in partnership with the London Symphony Orchestra. The session is dedicated to symphonic repertoire and is aimed at musicians from conservatories of music in the PACA area and the Mediterranean. It also includes a training session intended for student-tutors.
2013 training sessions
For 2013, the OJM will be associated with several regional operators to develop projects supported by Marseille-Provence 2013, European capital of culture. Three training sessions will allow young musicians to open up to other kinds of music, brass band and jazz, and also to confront with dance and street arts.
